Halloween out in the County

     Living at the end of dirt road 183 has its perks around Halloween.  First, we're all pretty far apart.  Up till this year, my kids were the only kids on the road.  In the spring the farm at the very end of the road got rented out to a family with two kids, although I had never seen them until they came over with treats for us on Halloween.  Because of this mix of oddities, Halloween has been whatever we've wanted it to be.  I do love dressing up so that has been and was encouraged again this year.
     With much deliberation, G-man finally decided he just wanted to be a cowboy, while Rivs was excited the minute I showed him is knight shirt.  Being two and a knight means wearing a helmet and growling at everyone.
      Last year we started the tradition of carving our pumpkins for Halloween, so we stayed true to this again.

Our newest tradition comes about due to the loving nature of our four-year-old.  Whenever we plan an event he wants to include his friends.  It's fun to then hear who his friends are, of course there's Carl and Charlie,neighbor's with tractors, 30 and 25 years old, then there's Patty and Dave, friends we met at the farmers market that happen to live on the next road, they have grown children, and the kids next farm over.

    So we decided to focus on the 'trick' part of 'treating' and we made field mice brownies and placed them in a pumpkin patch (brownies with orange frosting) and delivered them to our friends, then we could show our costumes off to others too.  It was a blast!  All candy was avoided!
