Newest Addition to the Farm

This beautiful Mama goat is the newest addition to our farm.  We never accept names that animals have previously been given, twice now animals we've inherited have had my sister's names - Chelle and Suzie.  So Golden rightfully named this large, over weigh milking goat ~ Twinkles.  Twinkles is huge, she's a head taller then our milking station, and over weight.  Like many animals in our country she has been raised in a stall on grains.  Browsing in a field is totally new to her and it took her two nights before she'd even smell the green stuff at her feet. 

This has lead to conversations about the typical American diet.  Let's see we keep hearing about how over weight we all are, but we want our food fast, from a box, dumped from a can, pre-processed, pre-made, without thought, and without consequences.  So are we much different from Twinkles, she did her job, she stayed in her stall, and she ate what she was given.  Exercise?  She probably walked around.  But eat her greens?  Make a salad? Buy produce?  Buy organic?  Grow it ourselves?  We've all got our excuse, our reasons, our convictions, but we all know what is good for us.  We know that we should eat food that is recognizable, that we can read from a label, or better yet, doesn't have a label, ex. carrots, apples, lettuce.  We all know we should get some exercise.  So why not?
